inaugurated the Urban Totem Gotleyb

Friday , at 18, opens the work of Leonardo Gotleyb Urban Totem, located at the junction of the Avenida Las Heras and Castelli. In his eight meters high, the sculpture shows a structure of an obelisk, covered with 19,000 venecitas, wrapped in a mesh of iron construction.
The piece was constructed through the union of Urunday and Universidad Nacional del Nordeste, hence its location in that sector of the city not only in the context of the Bicentennial Celebration but especially the implementation of the Faculty of Arts .
"The term totem is used to denote a real or abstract symbol representing a culture or belief system. In a broad sense, the "Totem" represents the values \u200b\u200band traditions of a culture, "said the artist Chaco, settled decades ago in Buenos Aires, who draws a line to the land of their origin:" In this Totem sought to unite symbolic values \u200b\u200bof an object sagrado perteneciente a las culturas originarias con la tribu urbana, en una propuesta de sincretismo cultural”.
Para Gotleyb, en ese cruce de culturas se apuesta “al fluir y al con-fluir en un espacio donde todos podamos ser escuchados y representados, afirmando nuestra identidad, a través de la aceptación y respeto de nuestras diferencias. La identidad se nutre en forma dinámica con el aporte del otro y lo diferente”, detalló.
Gotleyb es uno de los artistas más reconocidos en el panorama contemporáneo de nuestro país. Fue consagrado con los principales premios no sólo de Argentina sino de varios países donde expuso sus obras, dictó conferencias y ofició de jurado.
